I have been studying Hmong for over 5 years and this is the most comprehensive
user friendly Hmong dictionary that I have found. With word usage examples and
English explanations my language skills and comprehension have soared. It is a
must for anyone, including Hmong people, who are learning or studying the Hmong
language.

LHT is always running on my computer while I research Hmong music. In
terms of speed and ease-of-use, LHT is unbeatable. Definitions in
Hmong and English make cross-referencing simple. Multiple definitions
for each word, common phrases, lus rov, Mong Lees words and phrases,
and the ability to search for English keywords makes this an
invaluable resource.

I highly recommend Lus Hmoob Txhais as a resource for those wishing to
learn or teach the Hmong language, and am proud to have volunteered
some of my time to help with the second edition. With the addition of
English definitions and translations in the second edition, Lus Hmoob
Txhais is now a must have for teachers, linguistics enthusiasts, and
anyone with an interest in learning the Hmong language or with knowledge
of Hmong and an interest in English.

I have a copy of your Hmong-English dictionary and I
must say it is quite different from others I have seen
in that the language and vocabularies chosen in your
book are easy to understand and they are reflective of
the basic functional language we use every day.
Thanks for making it available to all of us.

Nyob Zoo Mr. Xiong,
I have used your www.hmongdictionary.com website over the past few months
and it has truly been an indispensable resource. Your work will be crucial
for today’s young Hmong generations, where many don’t even speak our native
language anymore. As a soon-to-be graduate in the IT field, your work has
been a great inspiration. Once again, I would like to thank you for all the
great work you’ve done for the Hmong community.

I just want to let you know how much I appreciate the online dictionary and
looking forward to the dictionary book. I have downloaded the software and
enjoying it. I commended you for encouraging our people to learn
Hmong (and if you make profits along the way...good for you!).
As you know, the Hmong language is not being taught in the public (or private)
school and a lot of us younger generations are losing the ability to write
and speak Hmong. Thank you for making my money's worth. May God bless you!

A very good dictionary *****
See the original comments at Amazon.com.
I really like this dictionary because unlike other dictionaries out there, it doesn't just give you the
definition, it gives you the word in the context of sentences. It also provides you
with both Hmong and English definitions, so it is useful to both Hmong and non-Hmong.
The only problem is that it is a one way dictionary; you can only look up Hmong words.

4 out of 5 stars ****
See the original comments at Amazon.com.
I bought this book because I'm learning Hmong, but surprisingly, this dictionary
contains Hmong:English translations only, no English:Hmong. I've never seen half
a dictionary before! The book's (free) website does provide such functionality,
nevertheless, I purchased this book because I wish to have a printed reference
and consequently I was quite disappointed. The author did, however, provide useful
example sentences for each word, plus an introduction which provides basic notes
on the language including differences between the white and green Hmong dialects.
I'll generously give it 4 stars because what information is does provide seems
quite complete, however it is only half a dictionary! I encourage the author to
come out with a second volume to provide the missing, important English:Hmong indexing.

I think this is a positive way to reach out to the Hmong-American community,
especially the young people. I'm a college student and am really
interested in learning more about my language and proper way to speak
especially to the elders. This book is a great start, simple to use and
very detailed. Just by the cover you know it's the real deal!
Thanks alot HmongDictionary.com....

I stumbled across your website a couple years ago.
My Hmong is very bad. I can kinda speak it and have a hard time
writing and reading it. I've taken several classes over the years
in churches and small groups taught in community centers, but they
did not help me much.
When it comes to stuff like this, I learn better on my own and
your website has helped me overcome some of the challenges
of learning Hmong. I would like to thank you for creating such a
fantastic website and hope that it stays around for a long time.
Thank You,

Since 2005, I have provided this online Hmong Dictionary to the world freely, and
it has helped many people worldwide. However, as a self-publisher and a small
unknown author, I still need your monetatry support to keep this website alive
so that everyone, not just Hmong but anyone who is interested to learn the
Hmong Language can have access to this services at any time from any where.
Therefore, you can either help me by buying the dictionary or purely donating
$5 dollars through the secure PayPal service
